HandUp Creatives
Where art meets heart
Founded by island powerhouse Ness Jane, we’re a colourful crew of painters, potters, performers, poets, crafters, and chaos makers who come together to do good things with our talents. Whether you’re an amateur with paint on your elbows or a seasoned pro with a flair for the dramatic, there’s a place for you here.
We host vibrant exhibitions and performances, run community projects that raise awareness around important local issues, and partner with charities to bring beauty, joy, and a little bit of glitter to where it’s needed most.
Keen to get involved? We’re always welcoming new creatives and kindred spirits. Join the crew or sign up for event updates at handupcreatives@gmail.com

Located in the heart of the Southern Moreton Bay Islands
We're proud to be based on beautiful Macleay Island, a tranquil slice of paradise that many of us are lucky to call home.
Nestled just 18 minutes from Redland Bay by passenger ferry or around 60 minutes by vehicle barge, the Southern Moreton Bay Islands are easily accessible yet feel a world away.
The SMBI group includes Karragarra, Lamb, Macleay, and Russell Island, each with its own charm and character. Life here moves at a more relaxed pace, where community spirit and genuine connection are a way of life.

Be the change
We create, we give back.
We’re passionate about giving back and making a positive impact in our local community. From vibrant art projects like the Macleay Island skate park mural to our upcoming initiative to revamp the kids’ library, we’re dedicated to creating spaces that inspire and uplift.
Our Free Art Fridays initiative is another way we bring joy, hidden artworks are scattered around the island as surprise gifts for anyone who stumbles upon them.
We also offer all abilities sensory friendly art classes where beginners are not just welcome, they’re celebrated. NDIS participants can bring their own support worker for free, or we can provide one with over 25 years of experience and a pocket full of patience.
All profits from our professional artwork are reinvested directly into the community. These funds support the free art supplies and exciting creative events that make art accessible to everyone.
